Elizabeth (Bitsy) Recupero, DO attended medical school at Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine, graduating in 1996. She went on to complete a dual residence in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, and she is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. After residency, she opened The Recuperative Center, a solo primary care practice that focused on Holistic Medicine in the town of Lambertville, New Jersey. It was during that time that she further enhanced her knowledge and skills in Integrative Medicine. Bitsy went on to complete the two-year Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona from 2007-2009. She received her Master of Public Health degree from Boston University School of Public Health in 2017, and her Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Instructional Design and adult learning theory from the University of Massachusetts in 2018. In 2012, she left private practice to work for the VA. A move which also brought her back to her hometown of Boston, Massachusetts. While working for the VA, she distinguished herself as a national subject matter expert in patient centered care, Whole Person Care, and health system redesign. Besides her role as a provider with the Mochi Health Team, she currently teaches both medical students, residents and attending physicians in a whole person approach to medicine as well as patient centered care. She is a member of the American College of Physicians and the Obesity Society.
