Hello, My name is Vidal Torres. My journey into the medical field started in 2002 when I became a paramedic. I have always felt the need to help people in their time of need and then went back to school to become an RN.I graduated in 2007 and worked as an ER nurse for over 11 years. I then pursued my baccalaureate studies in nursing in 2014 and enrolled in graduate studies- Family Nurse Practitioner in 2015. I have alway been passionate about obtaining knowledge and wish to learn as much as I can about diseases processes and the best management for patients. I began doing clinicals in an indigent/internal medicine clinic and immediately was drawn to the patient population. These patients did not have the capability to see a specialist of any kind so providers there had to manage all conditons such as endocrinology, cardiology, pulmonology, nephrology, gastroenterology, rheumatology and mental health just to name a few. I have been managing and treating diabetes with GLP-1 medications for over 5 years. During that time I have treated patients with Victoza, Saxsenda, Bydureon and Ozempic for weight loss with success as drugs reps had informed providers of off label weight loss use for the GLP-1 drug class. When Mounjaro came out I was extremly interested on the dual peptide approach to treating diabetes and obesity. Weight loss management soon became an integral portion of my practice. I am passoinate about managing obesity as this is a global issue that is spiraling out of control and have continued to study the new approaches for weight loss that will be used in the future. Obesity is linked to so many diseases processes that can be prevented with weight loss and maintaining a healthy weight. I feel by managing this issue that this will have the most meaningful impact to the health of our communities.
