Understanding the treatment
Active Ingredient:
Finasteride and Minoxidil
This compounded preparation combines oral finasteride and low-dose oral minoxidil in a single capsule for hair loss. Finasteride blocks 5-alpha reductase, lowering levels of DHT, the hormone most responsible for androgenetic alopecia; oral finasteride 1 mg is FDA-approved for male pattern hair loss. Low-dose oral minoxidil is FDA-approved as an antihypertensive and is prescribed off-label for hair loss, where it is thought to prolong the growth (anagen) phase of the hair cycle and improve blood flow to follicles. This combination is compounded by a state-licensed pharmacy and is not FDA-approved as a combination product. Whether it is appropriate for you, the individual strengths, and the dosing are determined by your Mochi provider.

Side effects
Finasteride: decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, ejaculatory changes, breast tenderness or enlargement, and mood changes (including depression); rare persistent sexual side effects have been reported. Oral minoxidil: lightheadedness, ankle or facial swelling, increased heart rate or palpitations, unwanted body or facial hair (hypertrichosis), and rarely fluid around the heart (pericardial effusion). Initial shedding in the first weeks is common and usually temporary.
Avoid When
Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or may become pregnant must not take or handle finasteride (risk of birth defects in male fetuses); known hypersensitivity to either ingredient; liver disease (finasteride); significant heart disease, low blood pressure, fluid retention, pheochromocytoma, or a history of pericardial effusion (oral minoxidil). Use caution with a personal or family history of male breast cancer.
