Understanding the treatment
Active Ingredient:
Tretinoin (all-trans retinoic acid)
Most common: dryness, peeling, redness, stinging, and a brief 'purge' of breakouts during the first 4–6 weeks. Increased sun sensitivity is universal — always wear sunscreen. Less common: contact dermatitis, paradoxical darkening on deeper skin tones, and exacerbation of eczema or rosacea.
Side effects
Common side effects may include skin irritation, redness, and peeling at the application site. Some individuals may also experience dryness or a burning sensation.
Avoid When
Pregnancy or breastfeeding; known hypersensitivity to tretinoin or any excipient; eczematous, broken, or sunburned skin; active severe rosacea. Avoid waxing treated areas and use caution with other irritating actives (AHAs, BHAs, benzoyl peroxide) until your skin acclimates.
